大阪で長期的なワークショップを開けたら、と。
関西圏でドキュメンタリーやフォトジャーナリズムというジャンルに興味のある若い人達と一緒にワークショップを行えたらなと思っています。１年ぐらいかけながら、一つの取材をまとめ、発表していくという過程を①リサーチ→②撮影→③編集→④ダミー写真集づくりみたいな工程を何度も繰り返しながら、それぞれが興味のある主題に対して、問題をより重層的に発表出来るようなことが出来たらな、と。最終的にはそれぞれの取り組みを写真集にまとめたいと考えています。もしくは、それぞれの仕事を一緒くたにまとめてZINEのような形で発表するのも良いなと思っています。昨年大学院に通いながら強く頂いた夢みたいなものです。
言わずもがな、ですが、日本国内にはフォトジャーナリズムの専門的な教育機関（大学）はなく、僕自身がそうであったように、自分だけでは参照すべきフォトグラファーのリンクさえ探し出すことが困難でした。岩手にいた時、僕にとってのフォトジャーナリストとは森住卓さんとキャパとナクトウェイでした。僕はスタンリー・グリーンもエド・カシもタリル・サイモン（フォトジャーナリストではないけれど）も知りませんでした。東京であれば、まだ様々な出会いに恵まれる機会が多いと思うのですが、やはりそれでも、昨年僕が留学していたロンドンと比べると量も質も違うような気がします。（東京に住んだことがないので正直なところは知りませんが、ウェブで見る限り、そんな風かなと。）
そこで、自分が留学先の大学院で学んできたこと、海外のフェスティバルやこれまでの仕事の経験を少しでもフィードバックしながら、日本でフォトジャーナリストを目指す人達と何か出来たらなと思っています。長期的なワークショップで目指すものはシングルショット、1枚で劇的瞬間を切り取る的なものではなく、時間をかけ、主題をより深く理解し、それを何層ものレイヤーで伝えていく。そんなことを1年かけて参加する方々と目指したいと思っています。
だいたい期間は2017年2月から翌年の1月ぐらいまでの1年間に毎月1回か2回、参加者全員でミーティングを開きながら、取材の進行、取り組み方、撮影方法、発表方法、参考になる写真プロジェクトの紹介、もし知り合いの写真家が応じてくれれば、招いたり、スカイプミーティングしたり。みたいなことができたらな、と夢見ています。
アイデア①としては、
料金は毎月１回集まり、それぞれのプロジェクトの講評を行う。毎月1万円だと同世代には高いかもしれないので、7000円ぐらいで年間84,000円。最低実施人数10名程度でというようなことを考えてます。もし、別途講師を呼ぶ場合は、その都度、2000円ぐらいもらったりして、お礼の代金とするようなこともあるかもしれません。
アイデア②としては、
月2回（連続で2日間）で初日は座学的な授業で大学院で学んだカリキュラムに即した形で、フォトジャーナリズム、ドキュメンタリーの写真家の仕事を参照したり、個人的にとても面白い授業だった模擬裁判（昨年の世界報道写真コンテストで1位を剥奪されたイタリア人写真家を被疑者として、プロ、コンに分かれ、様々な角度から検証する。ちなみに僕は、ストロボを持ってカーセックスした人として証言しました。）等を行う。そして、2日目にそれぞれのプロジェクトについて、フィードバックをする。などということを出来たら良いなと。月の料金は2日間だからと言ってアイデア①の倍にすると高すぎるので1万円ぐらいでしょうか。年間12万円でロンドン芸術大学院で学んだ座学を模した授業とそれぞれの取り組むプロジェクトの発展を行う。
アイデア①②ともに高いか安いかわかりませんが、、、海外のワークショップの相場を考えたら結構安いと思います。
そして、個人的にはアイデア②を行えたら良いなあと思っております。

//Curriculum Vitae, April 2016//
Kazuma Obara (Japan, 1985) is a photojournalist based in the UK and Japan. Focusing on hidden victims in society is a theme he explores in his projects. After the tsunami and nuclear disaster in 2011, he resigned from his job in financial industry to begin documenting the disaster area where his best friend's house was located, photographing from inside Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Obara was the first photojournalist to convey the story from inside the plant. His work in the disaster areas was published as the photobook Reset Beyond Fukushima, published by Lars Müller Publishers, Switzerland in March 2012.
In 2014, he focused on victims of World War Two in Japan and his self published photobook Silent Histories was shortlisted for Paris Photo/Aperture Photo Book Award and was selected for TIME, Lens Culture, and Telegraph Best Photobook 2014. Silent Histories was also published by Editorial RM in 2015 as new edition. This edition was nominated various best book 2016 such as Arles Photobook Author Award, Kassel Best Photobook.
Continuing his pursuit of nuclear issues as a long term project, Obara was focusing on victims of Chernobyl nuclear accident. His project 'Exposure' which was attempted to reveal invisible victims of Chernobyl accident by using old Ukrainian film was selected for World Press Photo 2015 People category 1st prize and won Athens Photo Festival Portfolio review 2015. This work was also nominated Magnum Lens culture Award 2016. His series of picture in Chernobyl will be published as photo book from Editorial RM in 2016.
Continuing his pursuit of nuclear issues as a long term project, Obara was focusing on victims of Chernobyl nuclear accident. A partner photographer of Swiss photo agency Keystone, his photographs appear in The Guardian, Courier international, ZEIT, El Mund, Le Point, BBC, NHK, IMA Magazine, Wired Japan and so forth.
